Salisbury — Jul 27th 2011

As far as content goes, it was one of our busiest meetings so far - the discussions were still in full swing when I had to call time. Doug and Luke had already downloaded and been using Lion so between them gave the rest of us a taste of what it's all about. Doug showed us some of the new features of Safari, Address Book and iCal and Luke showed us Launch Pad and Mission Control…

Bournemouth — Jul 19th 2011

Last evening was the first at the slightly later time of 7.00 pm and while it is probable that themain attraction was learning about Lion, our main feature, nevertheless with 20 people in attendance this was the best meeting since the enthusiastic opening of the Bournemouth venue.

However an unveiling of the new operating system didn't happen. The guys at Solutions had still not received a copy to work with! But all…

Dorchester — Jul 12th 2011

John opened the meeting with 21 members present. Gordon, Maggie and Terry sent apologies.

The first presentation was by Mark, of the 'Show me' app for iPad.
He first loaded some photos onto the iPad using a card adapter, and then demonstrated how the app was used to
annotate and provide a verbal commentary on the photos, which resulted in a movie which could be emailed from within the app.
This…

Salisbury — Jun 29th 2011

I'm pleased to report that we had a slightly higher attendance this month and it resulted in a very lively and hopefully informative meeting. We started off with the usual question-and-answer session and this did get slightly technical with a discussion on the use of IP addresses but I'm fairly sure that the people who were asking the questions went away happy and hopefully with a problem cured.

We then went…

Fareham — Jun 25th 2011

The meeting started with a business session in which we discussed the potential move to Portchester Community College following our interesting visit to the school in April. We decided that subject to no issues being raised that we will move the meeting to the school starting in January 2012. We will be keeping everyone informed as to what is happening.

We then discussed the types of pointing devices that people used and did…

Bournemouth — Jun 21st 2011

The meeting started with Lionel's presentation on the varied – and in some cases unexpected – uses of Front Row. This is a much under-used application that comes with the Mac, though latterly the handset has been sold separately as an extra, for £15.00 Lionel pointed out that this was a very useful and time-saving method of watching movies, dvds and photos, and of listeing to music inasmuch as it is not necessary…

Dorchester — Jun 14th 2011

John was away on holiday, so Mark introduced the meeting with 22 members present.

The main theme of the meeting was online book production, and during the meeting, samples of each printer's product were handed round for inspection.

Maggie started with a talk on Blurb Books
She had found Blurb books more suitable for the product which she was trying to create than the iPhoto offering, it allowed greater flexibility, in particular with…

Fareham — May 28th 2011

For reasons best not discussed we held the first part of the meeting the hall car park. This gave us an opportunity to discuss with Andy Banks the reasons for and how Drupal works.

After a period of time we moved the meeting into the room, switched on the heaters and carried on the discussion.
The discussion then ranged far and wide encompassing disk drives that were the physical size of spare…

Salisbury — May 25th 2011

One of our busiest meetings - not with numbers but with content. Once we'd got inside (the rugby club had decided not to open till 8:00 as their season has finished but neglected to tell us) we used the main room instead of our normal small one.

Annie started us off by exploring the capabilities of a new slide scanner. Most of the features apply equally well to scanning documents on a flatbed…
