Bournemouth — May 21st 2013

After a brief Q&A session dealing with a couple of Mail-related queries, the first presentation was by Lionel on how he uses Numbers to manage the WAMUG accounts. For confidentiality reasons, this was demonstrated using the accounts of Cybergeeks, an organisation with a most intriguing membership list which, spookily, happens to use precisely the same accounting structure as WAMUG.

Lionel has set up separate sheets within the same document to…

Salisbury — Apr 24th 2013

Martin came to talk to us about maintaining our Macs and it was a great relief to all to find out that Macs now do an excellent job of maintaining themselves without our intervention! Indeed, Martin pointed out that intervention was likely to be either a placebo or just plain wrong.…

Dorchester — Apr 9th 2013

John opened the April meeting with 23 members present.
It appears that we may be victims of our success in attracting new members, in that we are investigating methods of providing local displays of presentations, in addition to the main screen so that people, seated at the back have a good view of what is going on. This month's research (following March's exciting episode) was into screen sharing, which was explained by Martin, and…

Salisbury — Mar 27th 2013

Eight of us enjoyed a meal before the start of the meeting - a very sociable gathering and far more than when we ate afterwards!

As our planned presentation had to be postponed until next month, Gordon stepped in and took us through some of the apps he uses (plays with!) on his iPad and this was followed by others chipping in with their favourites.

The meeting finished with John & Bruce…

Dorchester — Mar 12th 2013

John opened the meeting, with 20 members present.

In anticipation of our numbers swelling still further, and of its becoming more difficult to see the screen properly, Martin gave a practical demonstration and talk on how the situation could be ameliorated by either sharing a Keynote or a .pdf file containing the slides to be presented, or alternatively, how to implement screen sharing between computers. There are multiple ways of achieving the aim…
